St. Party's Day in Scenic Shamrock, Texas
Roadside distractions...Cadillac Ranch
Anything and everything can be a distraction for us while driving...meteor craters, Starbucks, Target, cigarettes. In this case it was Cadillac Ranch, the line of Cadillacs buried in the sand of a random field in Amarillo, Texas. The art piece is covered in graffiti and we were more than happy to blow off some steam by tagging it up. Even Buck got in on the action.

Santa Fe, New Mexico
One of Michele's requests on this trip was to go to New Mexico, see some art and sit in a field to "watch the light." We decided to fulfill this request in Santa Fe. After scoring a sweet suite at the La Quinta (our home away from home). We hit the streets. (We still average around 3 hours from the time we get up to the time we get out the door).
Michele was so excited she forgot to close her car door. We took in some art, shopped around and caught the sunset at The Cross of The Martyr. Other highlights: Adobe everything...including CVS, Garrett being pumped about CVS having Patron, and learning that red and green chili together is called Christmas. Michele wanted to stay, but in the end all it took was some Starbucks to lure her back to the car.

Taking Arizona by storm at the Grand Canyon
$7 shoes
For those of you who don't know Garrett well, he is very organized and always prepared. That is why he chose to bring slippers, sandals and two pairs of boat shoes to hike The Grand Canyon. After much discussion, it was decided that he would be purchasing a sensible pair of shoes for this excursion.
Another important thing about Garrett is his love of name brands. He made us promise not to tell anyone that he bought $7 sneakers from Walmart...so here you go...
Aren't they spectacular!

The Hoover Dam
Apparently the South West is unaware of LTE. Our internet connections have been straight out of early 2000. Anyway, sorry for the delays in posting...blame Vegas through New Mexico.
Our trip to The Hoover Dam was a nice cleansing of our souls after the Vegas experience. The only complaint we have is that Buck was not allowed to walk on the dam. WTF Hoover?!

Leaving Las Vegas Day 3
Vegas was interesting, lots to see and kind of a sensory overload. We think one night was all we could handle. On our way out of town we took in a little more of what Vegas has to offer.
*Please note, no wedding statuses changed on this trip. Also, Buck is not welcome back to The Little Vegas Chapel.

Vegas!!!! (Part 3)
Wrapping up the night in Vegas at around 3am.
Sandy, we found, "The Wheel... Of... Fortune!!!" Sadly, we did not score as big as you did. (For background on this please see our Ohio posts from the last trip).
By the end of the night we were ahead $5.07 thanks to Dawn's mad skills at the slots.
Thanks for not robbing us totally blind Vegas.

The road to Vegas
The road to Vegas was very desolate, but also very scenic. We were able to log some serious miles once we started listening to Serial. Dawn has already heard the whole series, but Garrett and Cheli are first timers. We are on episode 6. Cheli thinks Jay all the way. Garrett feels that both Jay and Adnan were involved.
There was also a brief moment where Buck lost his mind and tried to hop into the driver's seat.

Hitting it hard on day 2
It's day two, and the blog is finally cooperating (now that we have a yahoo, flikr, google+, and Picassa accounts). What a racquet.
We left from Boise bright and early after about 3 hours of sleep. We are very proud to say that we managed to stop 3 times in the past 20 minutes.
First stop was the bustling metropolis of Wendell, Idaho. No offense Wendell, but you smell real ripe. Like cow pie ripe.
Next stop was a scenic overlook to an amazing gorge (a little pregane to the Grand Canyon).
Third stop was for Starbucks where we had a sugar intake intervention with Garrett.
Vegas here we come!!!!
